On Wednesday 7th January, we were introduced to the second practice film. The first task was to, plan the storyboard and dialogue before filming.
I'm not able to say much about the actual filming because I have missed the practice lesson, however I think that it was pretty the same as the previous practice in terms of filming and editing.
In my opinion, the clip is very good. I have seen it today for the first time and my impression is really good. It starts very seriously and then becomes very funny.
I think that my group, followed the forms of conventions of real films because from the very beginning, the clip looks professional.

Wednesday 7th January
Wednesday 7th January
At the beginning of the lesson we were introduced by Marisa to a 'mutch cut' activity. Mutch Cut is when a director cuts from one scene to a totally different one, but has objects in the two scenes "matched," so that they occupy the same place in the shot's frame. After the introduction, we watched a short sample clip made by media technicians where mutch cuts were included.
During the second part of the lesson we were given a task in which we had to make the list of 20 shots for the scenario which was written on the sheet. The task included: shot description, shot type, interior/exterior and action. We had to include a mutch cut as well. After we done that, we had to re group with our previous thriller groups and plan the storyboard for the practical work.

Evaluation
For the practice filming session, we had to design a storyboard and begin filming the opening for the thriller.
We were introduced to camcorders and tripods before, so the camerawork during the filming went really well, even though I was doing it for the first time. Most of the shots were successful however some of the scenes were filmed more than once. None of the shot were bad.
After filming, we had to edit the shots in order to make a good opening. We went to editing room, we connected the cameras to hard drives and began to edit the clips. We had to cut some of the bits and connect them together and as the effect of that, the clip was really great. We also added some special effects and few seconds of soundtrack.
I learned quite a few things about mise en scene as a practice such as how to set the scene.
We did managed to create an element of suspense when the cards were turning upwards and the character was falling down the stairs. This is where special effects were used and these effects actually helped to create the suspense.
The only thing that we forget, was to film the extra 5 seconds before and after the shot and especially after the shot, however this happened for just a few shots. There rest of them were fine.
We have tried to use some of the conventions from real thriller films such as the suspense. We didn't actually had a chance to get some serious feedback from the teacher or the class.

Filming and Editing
On Wednesday, at the beginning of the lesson (Micky-media technician) demonstrated the camcorders and tripods. He told us the different fuctions of the camera and how to use it safely with or without a tripod. After this useful tutorial, we had to design a storyboard which would help us, during filming the thriller and then decide who is who. I was chosen to be the camera operator. We (my group) came up with about, eight scenes.
After break, we took the camera, tripod and our storyboard and went outside the classroom to begin. Filming the thriller, took us about one and a half hours long, however the whole clip was less than four minutes. We managed to film all the scenes we have planned.
